for printing your own targets? I'm asking those who print their own targets because I've been using standard Office Depot multi-purpose printer paper and it seems to tear instead of making nice round holes, even with wadcutters. Pointed pellets are about the only ones that make a small hole but I don't shoot many of those. The paper I'm currently using must have longer fibers in it that cause it to tear. So, can anyone direct me to a good source of paper for airgun targets?
TIA, Bullshooter

generic card stock that is at least 90lb weight paper. You will get nice "jagged" but round holes and it's only about $10-15 for a ream.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'm going to try both and see how it goes.

What Dan said...
You'll find that if you take a home-printed target to Kinko's (or equivalent) they can print out your original on a bunch of card stock for not much more than what you would spend to do it yourself, once you factor in the cost of ink cartridges...

Card stock is fantastic for printing targets, Bullshooter. I picked up a big ream of it at Sam's Club for around 7 or 8 bucks, I believe and the pellets cut cleaner, round holes through it and if there's a little wind outside, they hold put as well.

I've used 20 lb (cheap copy), 24 lb (moderate copy), 32 lb (a bit more), 110 lb (card stock). At the present time, I've got a pack of 32 lb Staples brand that I'm using. If I could get 67 lb at a decent price, I'd try it.

Airgun_Target,
the manila paper looks like what you usually buy targest printed on but this is too large to fit in a standard printer. Do you trim every sheet down to 8.5X11? Will this stuff print through a laser printer? Thanks, Swami |

I just use regular printer paper. After I staple it to whatever I'm shooting at, usually cardboard, I don't see where it makes much difference what kind of paper it is. The cardboard backing makes it stiff. It works for me.

I use regular printer paper,I bent some rod into a target frame and hold the paper in place with clothespins.
