Cool Hawke Nite eye SR 12

well i just got the aforesaid scope . the specs are 6 - 24 with 50mm AO and an IR red/green.
initial impressions
1) well its a big scope and heavy.
2) optics are clear and sharp with some blurring in the highest end of the spectrum.
3) had a pair of Hakko mounts and mounted the scope. ran out of clicks on the vertical and left adjustment. the problem is probably in the mount as they appeared askew. have ordered another pair of leapers accushot mounts and hope to get the issue over. have shimmed the scope at the moment and gotten it zeroed.
4) shooting at 12 X is a acquired taste and best done with a bipod. have gotten spot on at upto 30 yds. have been bopping stuff at 30 yds all day.
5) the reticle is gonna take some time getting used to.have missed no brainers at 20 yds on flying rats.
6) got a crow at 50 yds with a perfect headshot. i could see the shot go home and the effect.
7) the IR looks great in low light and should work well for lamping.

all said its a great scope as far as my limited knowledge goes.been using a max of 4 mag scopes all my life. the construction is solid and the turrets operate with a tactile click. the AO is stiff but should smoothen with use.
the only down side is the weight and heft the scope adds on the lithe Discovery.
plan to use the same scope on my .22 rimmy when i go on leave in march. 100_2197.JPG

Congrats on the new scope, you got a good one. But then again, everything from Hawke is a good one. Go to they're site and download the free program and get the full potential of what the scope can do.

ya ! as i said earlier i am a Jat and in my people the bigger the better . lol
still i wanted a scope which could serve on my discovery , the .22 rimmie and the 30.06 as and when i get it. sort of a jack of all. the down side is that the AO is not very comfy to use.

Yup.The AO having to be dialed in every time you change the range is a PITA. Probably why it's mostly available on airgun scopes ,rather than on all scopes.
